Bad Year for 70’s Musicians

**UPDATE** I found some better videos of E-W-F in concert on Dailymotion. http://dai.ly/xwfrr Also, here is an excellent article on Maurice from NPR. 2016 is starting of poorly for musicians from the 60’s and 70’s.  So far we have seen the passing David Bowie, Glenn Frey, and Paul Kantner. Today came news that Maurice White, founder of Earth Wind and Fire passed away. While I listened to music from all of these musicians, I liked…

Bob and Ray

As if I needed further proof of my advancing age, Bob Elliot of the comedy team Bob and Ray passed away yesterday. Bob and Ray had a low key, deadpan approach to humor, that I found particularly appealing. My big brother, Ray, introduced me to them when I was a very young impressionable lad. Yes, We Are Back

Yes, we ARE back. I know, it has been almost 3 weeks. Our return flight arrived in El Paso at 2 AM, after a 2+ hour delay in Phoenix. The original town of George Town was laid out by the British in the last…

KL to Georgetown

It is Monday evening here in Georgetown Penang, Malaysia. It was raining earlier, but we are at our hotel, ready to get some sleep. It is incredible to think we have been in Malaysia for 4 days already. Malaysia has been wonderful! Hot and very humid, but great. Everyone here has been friendly and helpful, even the taxi drivers. This morning, we decided to take a taxi to KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) instead of…

Kuala Lumpur

It is Sunday morning in KL (Kuala Lumpur). Traffic is still pretty light outside. I don’t think much opens before noon. Yesterday was our first full day in KL, and it was full! We saw a lot of the “must see” sites, Chinatown, Central Market, Mederka Square, and then spent four hours on a food tour last night, visiting about 4 different hawker malls to sample Malay, Halal, Chinese, and Indian styles. But first… It…
